Looking back to recognise everything we have created together

These past weeks have marked a key moment for La Xixa: we have closed the final sessions of the first edition of the Escola La Xixa and celebrated the Intercultural Forum Theatre Masterclass 2025, reaffirming shared processes and collective learning.

We have also carried out new forum theatre presentations across different territories and continued driving European projects, while generating open-access resources that broaden the possibilities of community-based and transformative work.

In this newsletter, we look back at these moments and the path we continue weaving together!

👉 RECENT ACTIVITIES

🎭 Another year, another brilliant cohort! Intercultural Forum Theatre Masterclass

ree

Another year has passed, and another wonderful group of facilitators has reached the end of their journey, culminating in the MASTERCLASS 2025.

From “What is Theatre of the Oppressed?” to “How to be a good joker?”, and celebrating the Forum Theatre creations developed with their groups, the training has been a creative, critical and profound journey.

🤝🌍 This process brought together people from diverse backgrounds, united by a shared intention: becoming mediator-jokers and bringing Theatre of the Oppressed into their communities.

Participants explored what TO is, took part in their own forum pieces, and later shared these learnings with their groups, facilitating the final performances during the Masterclass. Brilliant work!

Congratulations on these 9 months of constant effort, commitment and courage! 💪

Escola La Xixa

Producing to transform: this is how we experienced Module 3 of the Escola La Xixa

ree

From 5 to 7 December 2025, we held Module 3: Realise to Transform of the Escola La Xixa, three days dedicated to production, management and artistic mediation. At La Xixa, we explored how to bring structure, coherence and sustainability to projects with social impact.

Participants explored tools for planning, inclusive communication and alliance-building, integrating perspectives such as intersectionality and social justice. It was an intense and collaborative space that allowed participants to revisit their own projects and share strategies to make them possible.

With this module, we close the first edition of the Escola La Xixa, celebrating shared learning and the transformative power of community art.

PRISCILA project

PRISCILA Final Conference

ree

✨ Day 1: The path of the PRISCILA method

The day began with an institutional welcome situating the audience at the heart of the project. Afterwards, the opening keynote by Ana Fernández Aballí set a critical and inspiring tone on the importance of creating safe and collaborative spaces for migrant people and diverse communities.

In the afternoon, the results of the PRISCILA project were presented, highlighting the learnings, methodologies and impacts generated throughout the pilots. The day closed with a space where workshop participants shared their experiences applying the Priscila method first-hand.

🎭 Day 2: Dialogues in movement

The second day focused entirely on practice. The workshops on Forum Theatre (La Xixa), creative writing (ACATHI) and deep democracy (HASAT) allowed participants to experience the core tools of the PRISCILA method: active listening, collective expression, and recognition of all voices, especially those often pushed to the margins.

In the afternoon, the workshop by the University of Bologna opened a space to rethink roles, narratives and power relations in education and the accompaniment of migrant people. Finally, we enjoyed a powerful forum theatre piece created by La Xixa Lab and Cantieri Meticci, culminating in a collective and poetic closing on the theme of metamorphosis, where the audience was invited to intervene, draw and transform the scene.

You can now download the new PRISCILA Manual for Adult Trainers!

After an intense collaborative process among the project partners, we can finally announce the publication of the PRISCILA Handbook for Adult Trainers, now available on our website. This comprehensive resource for trainers includes:

Designed to complement the PRISCILA Guide, the manual provides everything needed to support trainers in creating inclusive and sensitive learning environments for adult migrants.

URRÁ KIDS Project

Theatrical Games and New Narratives to Imagine Possible Futures

ree

During October, the COA group from Casal dels Infants took part in workshops on reflection and collective creation around urban environments. Through forum theatre and participatory methodologies, they explored themes such as diversity, sustainability, coexistence and urban rights.

The sessions included news analysis, sociometry exercises, and the imagining of future neighbourhoods. Using image theatre and improvisations, the group represented scenes of the city and explored new ways to understand and transform everyday conflicts.

Pocket Cities facilitator training: learning the methodology through experience ✨

ree

On 28 and 29 October, within URRÁ KIDS, we carried out a training for educators and facilitators to experience the Pocket Cities methodology firsthand — a tool based on play, creativity and community participation.

Through role-playing games and the creation of a fictional city, we explored how this methodology opens debates on norms, identities and governance, and strengthens active participation. Despite the usual facilitation challenges, the experience showed that Pocket Cities is an adaptable and transformative methodology.

This is how we built our Pocket Cities in Barcelona ✨

ree

Between 24 and 28 November, the URRÁ KIDS group created their own Pocket Cities, imagining fairer and more sustainable cities through cooperative games and collective work. They defined norms, services, and a dance-based economy, building a true urban laboratory.

The final city, Emmbar, opened its doors to the public so that children and young people could experience it as active citizens. Pocket Cities fosters creativity, participation and critical thinking to reimagine and transform our cities. 🌱🌍✨

YSI-ACT Project

During October, a diverse group of young people aged 16 to 25 participated in several workshops within the YSI-ACT project. They explored themes of solidarity and social inclusion using forum theatre dynamics, practical exercises and participatory methodologies.

These workshops culminated in a forum theatre performance at the Filmoteca de Catalunya, in the Raval. The piece focused on how young people navigate and understand mental health within social groups, generating debate on the importance of communication, empathy and solidarity among peers.

SUSIEE Project

🧸🌍 Results and Final Conference

The SUSIEE project has concluded with three main outputs now available: the SUSIEE Guide, the Method and Professional Manual, and a digital platform for families offering multilingual resources and support for positive parenting.

These materials were presented at the Final Conference in Bilbao, where participants reflected on how to strengthen intercultural and sustainable practices from the earliest educational stages.

All resources are free and accessible on the project website — ready to download, use and share! 📥✨

IMAGINING Project 🌿 Green energy for everyone… but at what cost? 🤔

ree

The Dones d’Òdena came to Barcelona to explore this very question during their theatrical masterclass titled “Energy transition and rural life”.

It is clear that the transition toward a greener future affects all of us… but not in the same way. 🌍✨

Why should your grandmother invest in solar panels? Is it just an urban trend? Or does the rural world see it differently? ☀️🏡

Six women over 55 from Òdena tackled these questions with humour and insight in a performance that blended alternative and classical approaches within the Imagining project. 💡
